This article summarizes the work of Peter Senge on the five learning disciplines and may be viewed as a foundation for personal and team learning. Senge's work, as published in The Fifth Discipline, was widely accepted as a pivotal breakthrough in the practices of leadership and organizational learning almost two decades ago. However, his work is even more relevant now, given the massive changes that are affecting organizations worldwide due to economic, demographic and environmental forces.
